About

Oathbrush puts the miniature paints of five makers in one place, so you can search them and compare them without opening five sites. It is independent, unofficial and not for profit.

The catalogue

AK Interactive, Citadel, Green Stuff World, The Army Painter and Vallejo. Every card carries the paint's name, its range, its reference, its shade, its price when the maker publishes one, and a link back to the page it came from.

Searching and filtering

Search by name or by reference. Filters stack — brand, range, type, colour family — and you can sort by name, by price or by hue, which lines the paints up around the colour wheel: the quickest way to find the next tone along from one you already own.

Where the colours come from

Makers rarely publish a colour value. The shades you see are read from the colour charts they put out when there is one, and sampled from the product photos otherwise, which yields a swatch for 2414 of the 2461 paints. The colour family is then inferred by closeness, in CIELAB space, to the paints already sorted.

Treat them as approximations: good for getting your bearings and for comparing two ranges, not for picking a shade blind.

Buying a paint

Every card links to the maker's own page, where the product is described and, more often than not, sold. That is where the price counts; the one shown here is indicative only.

Independence

These links earn nothing. They lead to the five makers' sites with no affiliate code, no tracking parameter and no commission on the way. The site sells nothing, asks for no account, sets no cookie and does not measure its audience. It has no connection with the brands whose products it lists.

Where your data lives

Your oaths, your collection and your preferences never leave this browser: they live in its local storage, on this device, and nowhere else. No account, no server, no copy held by anyone — that is what lets the site ask for nothing and measure nothing. It is also what makes them fragile.

One "clear site data", an uninstall, a phone replaced or lost, and it all goes. On iPhone, Safari goes further: it erases by itself the storage of a site it has not seen for seven days — unless the app is installed on the home screen, where it has storage of its own. The app does ask the browser to keep this data, and the browser agrees the more readily the more the site is installed and visited; but that request guards against the erasure it would have decided on its own, and against none of the others.

The only thing that outlives the device is a file. Réglages → Data → Back up gathers every oath, its painting progress and your collection into a single file, which you send wherever you like: iCloud Drive, Drive, an email to yourself. Restore reads it back, here or on the next device, either filling in what is already there or replacing it.

Brands, ranges and colour names

Every brand named here belongs to its owner. That goes for makers' names, range names and shade names alike, any of which may be protected as trademarks or by other intellectual property rights.

This concerns in particular AK Interactive, Citadel, Green Stuff World, The Army Painter and Vallejo, together with the names of their ranges and their colours. Citadel and Games Workshop are trademarks of Games Workshop Limited.

These names appear here for information and description only, so that the products can be named and told apart. The use is purely nominative: it claims no rights, registers nothing and is not use as a trademark.

None of the brands named is affiliated with this site, sponsors it, endorses it or has approved it in any way.

The data shown

Names, references, ranges, prices and pictures are facts collected from the makers' public sites. They come with no guarantee of accuracy or currency:

Product pictures

Product pictures remain the property of their authors or rights holders. They are shown to illustrate and identify the reference concerned. Depending on how the site is configured, they are either loaded straight from the makers' servers or copied as they are, unaltered.

Reporting and takedown

Any rights holder who believes a content infringes their rights may ask for it to be corrected or removed. As no contact address is published yet, the request can be sent to the host, which holds the publisher's identity, following the notification procedure of article 6 of the same law.

A well-founded request will be followed by the removal of the content concerned as soon as possible, without prior discussion.

Personal data

This site is made of static files. It sets no cookie, uses no tracker, carries no form and collects no personal data. No account is needed and no audience is measured.

When pictures are loaded from the makers' servers, your browser contacts them directly, and those third parties are then technically able to see your IP address. This site has no access to, and no say in, whatever they do with it.

Liability

The content is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind. The publisher cannot be held liable for any error, omission or damage arising from its use. Links to the makers' sites are there for convenience; what they lead to is their publishers' responsibility alone.
